November 2024 MNA Meeting Minutes

Montavilla Neighborhood Association Meeting

Turesday November 12, 2024

Board Members in Attendance: Kat Moss, Spencer Knowles, Sarah Hartzel, Kristina Perry, Laura Mulligan, Elisabeth Lister

Quorum is present. Moved meeting location from United Methodist to Montavilla Brewing

Meeting called to order at 6:45

Minutes moved and seconded and approved.

Old business

• Vote to amend the proposed changes in bylaws

• In favor: 15

• Opposed: 2

• Proposed changes passed

Board Elections

4 open seats and 3 candidates running

- Opened up the floor for additional candidates

- SE Uplift on hand to manage ballots and election

- Ballots filled out and collected

Committee Reports

GNA Committee - Spencer

• Spencer updates

• Hope to have a GNA to put to the board in December

• Hoping to get input on enhanced services and engagement. Currently there is only a .1 mile radius zone around the site

• Opening on the site at 82nd and Mill will begin the engagement process

• It was expressed that close placement of these two shelters is concerning for our neighborhood. The city and county have acknowledged this and do not plan to open more, but there is a need to get that in writing.

Parks Committee - Louis

• Large skate park is in progress at Barrydale

• Park Arboretum signs will start hanging on the fence to indicate species of trees in the park

Land use and Safety - Jacob

• Jacob Update on Tax Increment Financing

• 82nd Ave TIP was approved

• There is a push for more cross walks on Glisan 

Treasury Report - Sarah

• Light activity for October

• Reported that annual report was filed

Communications Committee - Spencer

• Still trying to find volunteers for design change

• Need help on: website, sodial media, newsletter 

• Applied for small grant from SE uplift to help with mailings to target outside of Montavilla core

Election results announced:

21 ballots received

• Candidates were unanimously voted in

• Officers:

• President - Spencer

• Vice President - Laura

• Treasurer - Sarah

• Secretary - Stephanie

• SE Uplift rep - Sarah will continue for now but will talk with a potential candidate
