About MNA
We are friends, neighbors, business owners, and community members working together to represent and improve our neighborhood.
Montavilla, formerly Mount Tabor Villa Addition, got its name from the abbreviation used on signs for the streetcar stop–Mt. Ta. Villa–which evolved to Montavilla, the name we use today. In the early days, over 130 years ago, Montavilla was a small farming community. Today Montavilla is home to nearly 17,000 Portlanders, hundreds of businesses, and many of Portland's most dynamic areas to live, work, and explore.
The Montavilla Neighborhood Association is one of 94 City-recognized neighborhood associations within the City of Portland. City Code chapter 3.96 creates a framework by which the people of the City of Portland may effectively participate in civic affairs and work to improve the livability and character of their neighborhoods and the City. Montavilla is a part of District 3, and the MNA is supported by the District 3 Coalition Office - SE Uplift.
The boundaries of Montavilla are:

ADAM FISS
SE UPLIFT REPresentative
Hello! I moved to Montavilla in 2022 and have been enjoying life in the neighborhood ever since. For work I am a transportation planner in SW Washington, splitting my time across Clark, Skamania and Klickitat counties. This opportunity to be a part of the MNA Board is meaningful to me because it’s a chance to contribute to our community.
OUR COMmITTEES
Committees are a great way to begin and expand your involvement in your neighborhood association. Contact committee chairs for more information!
Oak Street Community Advisory Committee
Representatives: Elisabeth Lister and Dan Halverson
Oak Street Village was opened by the Multnomah County Department of Homeless Services in 2024 and features 30 pod-style living units. The MNA worked with the County, City, Straightway Services, and community stakeholders to create a Good Neighbor Agreement intended to help manage the site’s impact on the surrounding neighborhood. The role of the Community Advisory Committee is to uplift concerns from the neighborhood and expedite communication between the community and the site operators.
