Councilor Angelita Morillo Q&A
Councilor Morillo reported that the council is in the throes of budget season and noted that Portland is experiencing one of the city’s most difficult times in terms of budgeting. Tough decisions will likely need to be made in terms of cutting core services. Councilor Morillo fielded various questions from the community regarding the Moda Center and other budgeting concerns.
Treasurer Report:
Sarah reported significant amount of financial activity due to costs associated with mailers as well as the movie/pizza event. MNA has fully used the small business grant and communications grant from SE Uplift. Sarah requested that the board members inform her of any committed spending that she is not aware of.
SE Uplift:
SE Uplift is hosting active discussions regarding changes to ONI standards. No other major updates reported.
Parks and Gardens:
A petition is being circulated to advocate for Montavilla Park to acquire a picnic shelter. A virtual copy of this petition will be distributed as well. The committee has a new member (Randall Z) was not present at the meeting. There is hope to start a movement to get a dog park opened.
Communications Committee:
No major updates were reported..
Land Use and Transportation:
The 82 Avenue Community Advisory Committee is hosting a meeting on 05/27/26 at 6:00pm-7:30pm to discuss bus stops and finalizing other details
Oak Street Community Action Committee:
Oak Street Village has reportedly met all of their established goals thus far. They currently house 28 residents. They are working on developing a sense of community (birthday cards, Mother’s Day celebration, etc.). There has been some discussion of noise concerns (dogs barking, loud music) but committee members are experiencing difficulties getting in contact with the pastor.
Harrison Community GNA Committee:
Harrison Street Village hosted an open house that was successful, with many community members attending the event.
Art Walk

Joy Committee
No major updates reported.
City Hall Update:
No major updates reported.
PEMO Update
PEMO connected MNA with METBA to discuss METBA’s use of a shared Google Doc to document community incidents and crime. METBA suggested that MNA adopts something similar. The committee is looking for someone to spearhead the development of such a document for MNA. PEMO also had a guest speaker who share education regarding sex trafficking and discussed the organization Safety Compass.

Steph reviewed MNA’s newly developed codes of conduct.
Steph moved to adjourn the meeting at 07:23pm. Keegan seconded.
